On each of the forty days of Lent there is a Bible passage to read, a key verse printed on the page, a short reflection written to be read aloud, two open questions to talk about, a short prayer and an optional small activity using things you already have at home. On busy nights you can read the verse and one question and still keep going.

Sundays are not counted in the forty days of Lent, so the five Sunday pages in Lent are lighter: a key verse, a short thought, one question to look back on the week and a prayer. Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday have full pages.

More about the devotional

The readings follow Jesus toward Jerusalem. The first days introduce prayer, giving and going without. Then come five weeks with one theme each: Into the Wilderness, Follow Me, Lost and Found, Eyes to See and The Road to Jerusalem. Each week opens with a one-page family plan: a verse to learn together, one thing to try, a giving idea, a prayer focus and space for your own plan. Holy Week has its own section, and it ends with an Easter morning plan and the Easter Sunday page.

Day 1, Ash Wednesday, begins with this verse: “Tear your heart and not your garments, and turn to the LORD, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.” Joel 2:13 (WEB British Edition)

It is written for parents and caregivers to lead, and it works with mixed ages. It is not tied to one church tradition, and the dates follow the Western church calendar. It does not ask anyone to fast from food. Scripture quotations are from the World English Bible, British Edition, which is in the public domain, and each passage is given as a reference so you can read it in the Bible you already use.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is anything shipped to me?

No. Instant digital download, nothing physical is shipped. You can download the files straight after checkout and print them at home or at a local print shop.

How do I get my files?

Checkout is run by Polar. As soon as your payment goes through you can download the files, and Polar emails you a link so you can come back to them later.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. 14-day refund, no questions asked. Email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. See our terms.

What ages is it for?

It is written for parents and caregivers to lead. The reflections are short and plain, so they work with mixed ages. For little ones, read the key verse and pick one question.

Why are the Sunday pages shorter?

Sundays are not counted in the forty days of Lent, and many churches treat them as small celebrations along the way. The five Sundays in Lent have a lighter page with a verse, a short thought, one question and a prayer. Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday have full pages.

Which Bible translation does it use?

Printed verses are from the World English Bible, British Edition (public domain), so they use British spelling. Passages are given as references, so you can read from any translation.

Is it for a particular denomination?

It is written for Christian families in general and follows the Western church calendar used by Catholic and most Protestant churches. Orthodox churches use a different calendar; in 2027 Orthodox Easter is on May 2.

Do we have to give something up or fast?

No. The devotional does not ask anyone to fast from food. If your family would like to give something up, it suggests small things, like a screen-free evening, paired with something you take up or give away.

When should we start?

Start on Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2027. Print the reading plan, the Lent calendar and the first week a few days before.

Can I share it with my small group or church?

The license covers one household. For groups, please buy one copy per household or get in touch about a group license.

Can I print pages more than once?

Yes. You may print this devotional as many times as you need for your own household.

What if a file does not open?
